CELTIC DEFENDER SIMUNOVIC LINKED WITH ANOTHER CLUB

Scottish champions Celtic FC are about to lose their defender Jozo Simunovic as the player has been linked heavily with a move to Italian side Torino.

Simunovic joined from Russian side Dinamo Zagreb but suffered a injury plagued debut season since joining the Hoops. The player is reported to be interested in the move to move to the Seria A. He is still sidelined with a knee injury but the Italian side want the Croatia international, according to Italian journalist Gainluca di Marzio.

The 22-year old player hasn’t featured for the club since January. Torino want the defender to replace Nikola Maksimovic who is on his way to Napoli for £20million. The deal has been on hold as English Premier League side Chelsea are hoping to seal a move for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly. Simunovic played just 18 games in his premier season in Glasgow but hasn’t featured since January.

Former Liverpool boss who now heads Celtic, Brendan Rodgers brought Kolo Toure from Liverpool to take charge of the defence alongside full-back Mikael Lustig who has been in action with youngster Eoghan O’Connell. Injured players Erik Sviatchencko and Dedryck Boyata are set to make a return to action, paving wave for the deal for Simunovic.

There have been a few changes in the team but Rodgers is still seeing the fruits of his work though he remains cautious. The coach said he hopes and prays that Tom Rogic remains fit after he got a brace in the 5-0 mauling of Motherwell side in the Betfred Cup. It seems the goal was in response to his new three-year deal that he got from the club. Also, Moussa Dembele also got a brace, leaving the manager happy as they ease into the final eight. Rodgers claimed the team was getting better game after game in his post match interview.
